1 Assistant Professor/Instructor

The Department of Public Policy (DPP) at the University of Connecticut seeks to fill a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level. DPP is home to a NASPAA-accredited Master of Public Administration program (MPA) and a Master of Survey Research program (MSR).
The successful candidate will be expected to support DPP‚s strength area in City Management and Urban Policy. This strength area is comprised of three interrelated components.

  • Public management. This includes human resource management, financial management, and general skills for managing public organizations.
  • Urban policy. This area focuses on developing solutions to address the key issues facing urban areas, such as improving the quality of education, reducing poverty, improving transportation networks, etc.

Program evaluation techniques allow public managers to continually improve service and make wise decisions about service delivery options. Program evaluation is also a critical component of developing successful urban policy.

The fellowships are intended to support post-doctoral research by academics in the early stages of their professional career. Accordingly, applications will be considered from candidates who successfully defended their doctorate less than five years prior to the closing date for the current competition (i.e. after 15 November 2002).

Appropriate exceptions to the five-year rule will be allowed in the case of applicants whose academic career has been interrupted because of maternity leave, illness or compulsory military service. Supporting documents will be requested from candidates proposed for selection.

6. Duration. The fellowships are for 3 years.

10. Medical insurance. Fellows are covered by the Spanish Social Security scheme.
